Plantar Warts

What are they?

Today, we are going to talk about plantar warts.  Plantar warts are like little calluses on the bottom of your foot, and they can be extremely painful.  If you’ve ever had one, you know.  They can be really small, or they can be a flower-like variety that take over a whole section of your foot.  They’re not easy to get rid of because they sit deeply in the skin.  When you put medicine on them, it doesn’t sink in all the way to the root.  That’s why it’s important to file them down, or if you see me, we whittle it down so we get down a little bit deeper so medicine can penetrate.

How are they treated?

There are a lot of ways to get rid of warts.  If you Google it, you might see twenty different things that could be done.  Maybe they’ve all worked at one time or another.  What we use here are compounding creams.  They have several ingredients that attack the warts in different ways.  That’s very important, because they’re tough to get rid of.  If warts stick around, we can remove them.  We numb the area, scoop that up, and can be done in ten minutes.
