Regenerative Medicine:  Amniotic Grafts

We’re continuing our talks about regenerative medicine, and that again is using your own body’s power of healing to take care of a problem.

Amniotic Grafts - What are They?

Today, we’re going to talk about a new product, “New Shield,” which is a dehydrated placental allograft.  It’s taken from human placenta, which comes out after a baby is born.  Normally, that’s thrown away, but it’s been discovered that the placenta is full of rich, potent cells that can help us in so many ways.  The material has been dehydrated and put into a box!

How Amniotic Grafts are Used

Often, we treat chronic wounds, especially diabetic wounds:  wounds that sit there and don’t heal for months.  We take a product like this and place it on the wound, which activates the body’s own healing powers, taking those cells and helps to turn it into tissue and skin that the body really needs. This has been very exciting and helpful for so many people.  We have multiple products like this that we do right here in our office.  It’s very easy to do.

If you have any issues with chronic wounds, come see me and we’ll take care of it!
